Frequently Asked Questions
Have questions about how therapy works?
Here you’ll find answers to some of the most common queries about CBT, online sessions, fees, and what to expect. If you’re unsure about anything else, feel free to get in touch — I’m happy to help.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is an opportunity to understand what’s been bringing you to therapy and what you’d like to change. We’ll talk about your goals, explore whether CBT feels like a good fit, and begin to think together about next steps. There’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to.
Is CBT right for me?
CBT is a structured, collaborative approach that focuses on understanding patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaviour, and developing practical strategies for change. During our initial sessions, we’ll consider together whether this approach feels suitable for you.
Do you offer face-to-face sessions?
I exclusively offer online therapy sessions via secure video. This allows you to access support from the comfort and privacy of your own space.
How long does a session last?
Sessions usually last up to 60 minutes. In some circumstances, longer sessions may be offered where clinically appropriate. This would always be discussed and agreed in advance, including any change to fees.
How much do sessions cost?
Standard sessions (up to 60 minutes) are £70. Any variation to session length, and the associated fee, would be discussed and agreed in advance.
How long will therapy take?
Many clients begin to notice positive changes within 4–6 sessions. Some feel ready to move forward after around 12 sessions, while others choose to continue longer to deepen their progress. We’ll regularly review how things are going and decide together what pace and duration feels right for you.
How often are sessions?
Weekly sessions are ideal to maintain momentum, but I offer flexibility depending on your needs and availability.
When are sessions available?
I am currently taking enquiries for sessions beginning in January 2026. Sessions are offered in the evenings from 5:30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Limited Saturday sessions may be available by arrangement.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Monday appointments must be cancelled by the preceding Friday. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, are charged at the full session fee. Repeated non-attendance may result in your regular session time being released. This policy helps ensure fair and consistent use of appointment times.
Do you offer a free consultation?
I offer a brief initial call to discuss what you’re looking for and whether CBT with me may be a good fit. Fill in your details and availability on the contact page I will give you a call.
